Hi guys. We're continuing our series on up-and-coming areas and today we're going to talk about Minneola. So Minneola is actually north of Clermont. In the last video we showed you a little bit about, actually, the intersection of Colonial, which is Highway 50, and 27. So if you go south, you're heading towards Clermont. Now we'll feel north and we'll arrive in Minneola.
Well, Highway 27 is, in a way, Minneola's main thoroughfare. You follow 27 and on the left you see a huge lake, Lake Minneola, and on the right you see the big buildings, the big transformation taking place. There are now at least three or four large condominiums going up. We drove past them and got to know them personally. There are schools there. There's a very large sports center. So there's a lot going on in this area.
One of Minneola's most interesting characteristics is that it is growing and its infrastructure is developing a lot, even though it already has good schools. Remember that everything here develops when it's formed, it comes with an infrastructure. But in a way it still has a distinctive characteristic where the houses tend to have more space between them, so a larger plot of land. We see a lot more houses that we call Single-Family, which are individual houses, still predominate compared to Townhomes, which are semi-detached houses. This is an interesting feature of the area. And it's an area that has a very different relief: you see a more mountainous area, slightly different views, which is something we don't see so much in Orlando, which is a much flatter area. So these are interesting features.
So generally speaking, it's excellent value for money. Security is very good, the crime rate is very low. Well, Minneola's economy grew last year by almost 4 percent, 3.9, but the expectation over the next ten years is growth of 51 percent. Again, this shows the basis and perhaps the interesting moment for investment in an area that is growing widely and appreciating widely, which then gives you an excellent cost benefit, a very good return on the investment to be made.
A very interesting factor that has contributed a lot to the growth and development of Minneola, in a way, is that residents used to have to walk a long way down Highway 50 to get to these developments. So a couple of important things have happened. The first was an extra exit. It's a dedicated exit to Minneola, for those coming from the Turnpike. Anyone who's been here knows that the Turnpike is a highway that connects everything, it's an expressway. So today the Turnpike has a direct exit in Minneola. So this has saved a lot of time and made life much easier for those who live here, who naturally use the Turnpike to go to Downtown Orlando and to other work areas. So this is a very positive factor that has already happened.
At that Turnpike exit, then, when you get off, you're on North Hancock. This is a street that, in a way, we're talking about as being parallel to US-27. It's a slightly smaller street, it's not an expressway, but it's a street that runs through Minneola and will connect you to, in a way, Winter Garden. All the way to Marsh Road, which connects Clermont and Winter Garden. So what we're trying to say here is that these areas are all interconnected, they're growing and as they grow they become, in a way, like they're closer, because commerce is coming in, more development in this area is happening and people don't see it as a distant area, as a bad thing that you have to drive 30 minutes. It's common around here and more and more we see people from the Winter Garden area and Clermont living and moving to Minneola as well.
Well, to give you an idea, of course we took a lot of aerial images, from Minneola, to try and locate where we are and what's happening in this area. And as I said, there are three or four new condominiums there today, which are new developments that are taking place, some a little more advanced than others, and we stopped at one of them. We went into the model house to show you the condominium, which we'll show you in an upcoming video. So keep up with our social networks and our channel, so you can understand what's happening in Orlando and in the areas around Orlando that are increasing in value.
