At a press convention today, Universal revealed details of its new theme park, Universal's Epic Universe!
It will be Universal's fourth theme park in Orlando and will be located near the Orlando Convention Center.
To give you an idea of the scale of this project, reports from today's press conference suggest that it will add 14,000 new positions to Universal Orlando's payroll, with a starting wage of $15 per hour.
What (unfortunately) wasn't shared today were details about what, exactly, will be in the area. For example, Universal has not confirmed whether the park will contain a Nintendo-themed area, as is happening in Japan, or any kind of timetable for the construction of the new park.
According to the company blog...
Epic Universe will offer a new level of experiences that will redefine amusement parks forever. Guests will venture beyond their wildest imaginations, traveling through beloved stories and vibrant lands on adventures where the journey is as surprising as the destination."
The new site will feature a theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, stores, restaurants and much more.
The addition of Universal's Epic Universe could be a big step towards making Universal Orlando a week-long destination in its own right (rather than functioning as a one- or two-day add-on to other attractions in the region) and could certainly add additional value for Universal annual pass holders.
